“No Complaint, No Evidence”: West Bengal CEO Rejects Mamata’s Assault Claims, Defends Election Process

The political temperature in West Bengal continues to rise as Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agrawal strongly dismissed allegations made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee against the Election Commission of India.

CEO Denies Any Verified Incident
Agrawal made it clear that there has been no official complaint or confirmed report backing the serious charges raised by Banerjee. He emphasized that no FIR or formal grievance has been filed, and internal checks with officials did not reveal any such incident. According to him, accusations branding the Election Commission negatively lack factual basis.

Mamata Alleges Assault and Irregularities
Earlier, Banerjee claimed she was mistreated during a tense moment linked to vote counting. She alleged physical confrontation, snatching of documents, and restrictions on her movement. The Trinamool Congress leader also raised concerns about surveillance systems, stating that CCTV cameras were allegedly turned off during the episode.

Serious Charges Against Election Process
In her remarks, Banerjee accused the Election Commission of bias and questioned the fairness of the electoral process. She alleged possible tampering with voting systems and interference by central agencies, intensifying the already charged political atmosphere.

Officials Reaffirm Poll Integrity
Rejecting these claims, Agrawal reiterated that there is no substantiated proof of violence or electoral malpractice. His response aims to reinforce confidence in the conduct of elections and the credibility of the institutional process.

Political Tensions Escalate
The controversy has triggered a sharp political divide, with the All India Trinamool Congress raising questions over neutrality, while the Bharatiya Janata Party has dismissed the allegations as unfounded. The dispute adds another layer of tension in the aftermath of a high-stakes electoral battle in the state.
