Awareness campaign at Govt Boys Higher Secy School, Magam, Handwara for Drug Deaddiction & Counselling Centre, Kupwara

Srinagar: On the eve of New Year 2023, an awareness campaign was conducted on December 31, 2022 as part of the ongoing campaign to create awareness about the Drug De-addiction and Counselling Centre at Kupwara.

The event was conducted at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Magam, Handwara and a number of talented speakers from the school and civil society spoke on the prevailing drug menace. Approximately 80 children and adults witnessed the event with many fruitful contributions from the locals. 

Dr Javed Iqbal Dar, Medical Officer, Government District Hospital, Tabassum Psychological Counsellor from DDC, Geelani, Forest Department, Mohammad Shafi Mir from Social Welfare department and other qualified speakers from Magam shared their experience with the students and people of Magam, Handwara pertaining to the menace of drugs.

The Doctor spoke about the importance of fighting this menace collectively and said that this is an illness that needs treatment in the society while the other speakers mentioned the importance of the youth in countering the drug menace in Kupwara.

The event was an endeavour by the Indian Army and Civil Administration, Kupwara to collectively counter this menace and the locals from Magam wholeheartedly supported the cause. 

 On the eve of the New year 2023 the students and locals pledged to fight this menace and stay away from indulging in these life-threatening practices of drug abuse.
