Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Thursday, accusing it of aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to influence the Delhi Assembly elections. Atishi, joined by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh, alleged that the Congress has formed a covert alliance with the BJP and is receiving funding from the ruling party.
“We have credible information that the BJP is financing Congress candidates for the elections,” Atishi said. She specifically mentioned Sandeep Dikshit, a prominent Congress leader, as one of the candidates allegedly benefiting from BJP funding.
Criticizing Congress for its recent actions, Atishi stated, “Congress’s behavior makes it clear that they have an understanding with the BJP for these elections. Yesterday, Congress leader Ajay Maken accused Arvind Kejriwal of being anti-national. I want to ask the Congress party: have they ever leveled such allegations against a BJP leader? Never. But today, they are targeting Kejriwal with baseless accusations.”
Atishi also addressed the filing of an FIR by Congress against her and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, questioning the motivations behind the move. “Why has Congress not filed any FIRs against BJP leaders? Their actions clearly indicate collusion with the BJP,” she added.
AAP leaders emphasized that such accusations and alliances undermine the unity of the INDIA bloc, an opposition coalition that includes Congress and AAP. MP Sanjay Singh called for accountability, stating, “If Congress continues to work against its allies in the INDIA bloc, it raises questions about their commitment to defeating the BJP at a national level.”
The accusations from AAP come at a time of heightened political tensions in Delhi, with Assembly elections expected to play a crucial role in determining the political landscape of the capital. Neither Congress nor BJP has officially responded to the allegations.
