President Droupadi Murmu Honors 17 Young Achievers with Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar

Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 17 exceptional children at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on December 26. The awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in art and culture, bravery, innovation, science and technology, social service, sports, and the environment, celebrated the remarkable contributions of young talents from across India.

The awardees, comprising seven boys and ten girls from 14 states and Union territories, were honored with medals, certificates, and citations. President Murmu congratulated the children for their extraordinary accomplishments, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent. “Providing opportunities and recognizing children’s talents has always been a part of our tradition. This tradition should be further strengthened to ensure that every child realizes their full potential,” she said.

Among the recipients were inspiring figures like Keya Hatkar, a 14-year-old author and disability advocate who promotes inclusivity through initiatives like “IM POSSIBLE,” and Ayaan Sajad, a 12-year-old Sufi singer from Kashmir celebrated for his contributions to preserving Kashmiri music. Saurav Kumar, aged nine, was recognized for his bravery in saving three girls from drowning, while Ioanna Thapa, 17, was honored for rescuing 36 residents from a fire.

Other achievers included Sindhoora Raja, who developed self-stabilizing devices for Parkinson’s patients, Hembati Nag, a judo player from a Naxal-affected region who secured a silver medal at the Khelo India National Games, and Anish Sarkar, the youngest FIDE-ranked chess player at just three years old.

President Murmu highlighted the significance of such contributions, stating, “Examples of courage and patriotism in children strengthen the nation’s confidence in its future. Their contributions will lead India to the pinnacle of progress.” She envisioned a bright future for the awardees, remarking, “In 2047, when we celebrate the centenary of our independence, these award winners will be enlightened citizens of the country, shaping its destiny through their talent and efforts.”

She concluded with a heartfelt wish for the nation’s children, saying, “May every child of this nation have a bright and prosperous future, for in their success lies the future of India.”
