In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and humility, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday to issue a public apology and appreciation for a fellow traveller who lent him a charger during a recent Emirates flight from Delhi to Dubai.

Sharing the incident with his 2.5 million followers, CM Sarma wrote, “Today morning I traveled on an Emirates flight from Delhi to Dubai, where a kind young gentleman lent me his international plug and charging cable.”

However, the goodwill gesture took an awkward turn when the CM unintentionally forgot to return the charger. “Unfortunately, he disembarked in Dubai while I was asleep, and I couldn’t return them. I’ve just now arrived in Amsterdam and feel deeply apologetic for not returning his belongings,” Sarma explained.

In a rare and candid public appeal, he reached out in hopes that the unknown benefactor would see his message. “If this message reaches him, please send me a direct message so I can arrange to return your charger and cable promptly. Thank you for your kindness, and I regret any inconvenience caused,” the Chief Minister added.

The post quickly went viral, garnering thousands of likes and retweets, with netizens praising the CM for his honesty and thoughtfulness. Many also hailed the incident as a refreshing reminder of kindness among strangers — and accountability from a public figure.

As the search for the “kind young gentleman” continues, the post has struck a chord online, sparking conversations about empathy, humility, and the small yet impactful gestures that define our shared humanity.
