In a firm and resolute statement, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal put to rest speculations surrounding an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress Party for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. On Wednesday, Kejriwal emphatically declared that AAP would contest the elections independently, reiterating that there would be “no possibility of any alliance with Congress.”

“The Aam Aadmi Party will fight this election on its own strength in Delhi,” Kejriwal asserted, making it clear that the party would not entertain any coalition talks with Congress, effectively putting an end to ongoing rumors.

Kejriwal’s remarks come amid growing media reports of potential seat-sharing discussions between AAP and Congress, as both parties gear up for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. However, Kejriwal’s statement aligns with AAP’s long-standing commitment to contest elections independently, presenting the party as a strong force in Delhi’s political landscape.

In the lead-up to the polls, AAP has been actively announcing its candidates. On Monday, the party revealed its second list of 20 candidates, marking significant changes by replacing 18 sitting MLAs. Among the prominent shifts, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who represented Patparganj, will now contest from Jangpura. Avadh Ojha, an educator and recent AAP member, will take Sisodia’s place in Patparganj.

Sisodia, while addressing the change, remarked, “For me, politics is a tool for education, integrity, and public good. I am ready to replicate the work done in Patparganj in Jangpura.” Delhi Chief Minister Gopal Rai expressed confidence in Sisodia’s ability to win, stating, “Manish Sisodia is capable of winning anywhere in Delhi.”

The AAP’s strategic candidate shifts, coupled with Kejriwal’s clear stance on an independent campaign, send a strong message as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral battle.
