New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused the Delhi Police of facilitating the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in a press conference held on Wednesday. Speaking alongside current Chief Minister Atishi, Kejriwal leveled serious allegations against both the BJP and the Delhi Police.
“All the Delhi Police is with the BJP. No one is there for the security and safety of the people. One of the SHOs told me they get direct instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs to disrupt our rallies,” Kejriwal claimed.
Kejriwal alleged that BJP workers, emboldened by police support, have been threatening AAP volunteers and disrupting their campaign efforts across the national capital. He expressed concerns about potential voter suppression. “The people of Delhi will have to stand together and give the BJP a strong reply. I am afraid voters might be stopped from casting their votes this time,” he added.
According to Kejriwal, the BJP is resorting to “hooliganism” because it faces a “historic defeat” in Delhi. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and ensure that democracy is upheld during the elections.
The Delhi Police has not issued an official response to the allegations, while the BJP has dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated. The accusations have added fuel to an already tense political climate in the city as parties prepare for the upcoming elections.
