In a well-coordinated effort based on credible intelligence provided by the BSF (Border Security Force) and corroborated by other intelligence agencies regarding potential infiltration through the Macchal Sector, a joint operation involving the Indian Army, BSF, and JKP (Jammu and Kashmir Police) was meticulously planned. Multiple ambushes were strategically laid along the suspected routes of infiltration.
During the night of July 18/19, at approximately 11:00 PM, our troops detected suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC). The movements of the terrorists were continuously monitored through advanced surveillance devices. At around 4:55 AM, contact was established with the terrorists, leading to an intense firefight. As a result, two foreign terrorists were successfully neutralized.
Following the encounter, a comprehensive Joint Search Operation was launched in collaboration with the JKP during the morning hours. This operation led to the recovery of four AK series rifles, one UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher), five UBGL grenades, nine magazines, 175 AK rounds, six hand grenades, tactical vests, and a significant quantity of warlike equipment.
The identities of the terrorists are currently being ascertained. This exemplary counter-infiltration operation stands as a testament to the remarkable synergy and cooperation between the security forces. It also serves as a stark reminder of the persistent attempts by terrorist groups to smuggle militants and arms into Jammu and Kashmir, with the malicious intent of disrupting the peaceful environment, development, and progress in the Union Territory.
