Mumbai: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday underscored the critical role of synergy among India’s armed forces, citing Operation Sindoor as a prime example of effective joint operations. Speaking at the commissioning of INS Mahe, the first vessel in the Mahe-class anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft, he highlighted how coordinated efforts across land, sea, and air domains strengthen national security.

General Dwivedi said, “The strength of armed forces lies in synergy. The sea, land, and the skies form a single continuum of national security. Together, the Army, Navy, and Air Force form the trinity of India’s strategic strength. In today’s age of multi-domain operations, our ability to act in concert from the depths of the ocean to the highest frontier will determine the security of our republic. Operation Sindoor exemplified this synergy.”

Operation Sindoor was executed following the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, targeting terror infrastructure across the border in Pakistan. The Army Chief emphasised that modern conflicts demand multi-domain readiness, hybrid capabilities, and integration across forces to ensure a robust national defense posture.

He further elaborated on the Indian Navy’s expanding role, stating, “The Indian Navy complements the Army in both regional and global operations, participating in humanitarian missions, amphibious operations, and soft diplomacy. With future expansion plans, the Navy is evolving into a networked, multi-dimensional force capable of dominating the seas.”
