Mumbai: A Hyderabad court on Monday granted bail to six individuals accused of storming the residence of Telugu actor Allu Arjun in the upscale Jubilee Hills area. The accused, who identified themselves as members of Osmania University’s Joint Action Committee (OUJAC), allegedly vandalized the actor’s property during their attack.
The incident, which occurred earlier this month, was captured on video showing the group destroying flower pots, throwing tomatoes at the property, and even climbing the compound wall with placards. They raised slogans demanding compensation for the family of Revathi, a 35-year-old woman who tragically died during a stampede at a cinema hall on December 4, where Allu Arjun had attended the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule. The actor was not at home during the altercation, and his security team had a brief confrontation with the assailants.
The group demanded a sum of Rs 1 crore in compensation for Revathi’s family, which led to the violent protest outside Allu Arjun’s residence.
During the court proceedings, the police presented the accused before the judge, who granted them bail. As part of the bail conditions, each of the accused must provide Rs 10,000 and two sureties within three days.
The case took a political turn when BRS leader Krishank alleged that one of the accused, Reddy Srinivas, had links to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Krishank condemned the alleged misuse of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) for violent protests and blackmail, stating, “Using it for violence and blackmail is disgusting.” He also shared photos of Srinivas from the 2019 ZPTC elections, suggesting his association with the Chief Minister and the Congress party.
The controversy continues to unfold as the investigation progresses, with political tensions mounting around the case.
