As the assembly elections draw near, the topic of seat allocation has taken center stage in political discussions. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has shared insights into the seat allocation formula for the Grand Alliance, also known as Mahayuti. Speaking to the media, Pawar emphasized that forming a coalition government is the primary objective, and he assured that all components of the alliance are diligently working towards this goal.

Ajit Pawar revealed that significant progress has been made regarding seat allocation within the alliance. However, he acknowledged that challenges remain and stated, “If there is no way, we will sit down and find a way.” He also assured that the official announcement of seat allocations would be made once the process is finalized. Amid speculations that the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is eyeing 80 to 90 seats within the Grand Alliance, Pawar provided a measured explanation, reinforcing the importance of unity and collaboration in the alliance’s strategy.

In a recent public appearance, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar visited the famous Dagdusheth Ganpati temple to offer prayers. During this visit, he prayed for the state’s prosperity and took the opportunity to engage with the media. During the interaction, Pawar made a significant statement regarding the Chief Minister’s post, stating, “I think all the party leaders should get the post of Chief Minister. I also came in all of them. But to become Chief Minister, one has to reach the majority number.” This statement reflects the complexities of coalition politics, where the aspirations of multiple leaders must be balanced with the practicalities of securing a majority in the assembly. “Not everyone’s wish is fulfilled,” Pawar added, alluding to the often intricate and compromise-driven nature of coalition governments.

In his comments, Pawar also touched on childhood memories associated with the festive season, particularly Ganesh Chaturthi, urging people to celebrate responsibly. He referenced the Commissioner of Police’s advisory on noise pollution, stating that while enthusiasm for the festival is welcome, it should not cause inconvenience to others. “People are suffering from noise. Others should not suffer due to their enthusiasm,” he remarked.

The issue of seat allocation within the Grand Alliance remains at the forefront. Ajit Pawar stressed the importance of a unified front to achieve their target of forming the government. “We have to bring the government of our target grand alliance for that. Allotment of seats has been done. If not, I will sit and work,” Pawar said, emphasizing his commitment to resolving any pending seat-sharing issues through dialogue and consensus. He assured that the public would be informed once the final decision on seat distribution is made.

Amid the political maneuvering, Rupali Chakankar, the Women’s Regional President of the Ajit Pawar faction, also made headlines after her visit to the Dagdusheth Ganpati temple. Expressing her hopes, Chakankar stated that party workers want Ajit Pawar to become the Chief Minister. She added, “The maximum number of our MLAs should be elected.” She reiterated the belief that a coalition government is on the horizon, signaling confidence in the Grand Alliance’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

As the state gears up for the elections, the Grand Alliance’s seat allocation and leadership choices will be pivotal in shaping the political landscape. With Ajit Pawar at the forefront of these discussions, his statements and strategies indicate the alliance’s commitment to unity and its aspiration to form the next government.
