In a significant development ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has thrown its weight behind Mr. Anandraj Ambedkar, grandson of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, who is contesting from the Amravati constituency. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took to social media platform X to announce the party’s support and urged its workers to ensure Ambedkar’s victory.
“I am pleased to announce AIMIM support to Mr. Anandraj Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar who is contesting Lok Sabha elections from Amravati. I advise my party workers to work for his victory,” wrote Owaisi in a post on the platform.
Anandraj Ambedkar, who previously sought support from AIMIM, has emerged as a prominent contender in the multi-cornered battle for the Amravati Lok Sabha seat. The constituency witnesses a diverse range of candidates, including Navneet Rana from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Balwant Wankhede from the Congress, Prajakta Pillewan from Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, and Dinesh Bub from Prahar Janshakti Party.
Seeking to bolster his electoral prospects, Anandraj Ambedkar approached Imtiaz Jaleel, the Aurangabad MP and leader of AIMIM, to garner support for his campaign. Jaleel confirmed the meeting between the two, stating that Ambedkar visited him to discuss the elections and seek AIMIM’s backing in the Amravati Lok Sabha constituency.
During a dinner meeting, Anandraj Ambedkar expressed his desire for AIMIM’s support, prompting Jaleel to pledge consideration of organizing public rallies in support of Ambedkar after consulting with Owaisi.
