Civic officers asked the residents of these buildings to carry out repair work, undertake structural audits and have served notices to these buildings. After completing the structural audits, the report will be submitted to the civic administration, says Deepak Sawant, AMC.

Bhiwandi: The Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation has made a fresh list of the dangerous buildings across the Bhiwandi city after a 34 year-old ground plus three-storied Jilani building collapsed in which death toll was 38 and 25 were sustained injured.
According to a civic official, municipal commissioner Dr Pankaj Ashiya has directed every ward officer to make a fresh list of dilapidated buildings across the Bhiwandi city and ask them to submit the final report. Following which, further action can be taken against these buildings and avoid any untoward incident like the Jilani building mishap. Following which, the civic officers of every ward have made a list of a dangerous building. They have listed a total of 267 dilapidated buildings (structures).
Deepak Sawant, Assistant Municipal Commissioner (AMC) while speaking to thenews21, “The ward officers along with city engineers had visited their respective wards and found out the dilapidated buildings. During their inspection, they found out the total 267 buildings whose structures are in dilapidated condition. They informed them (residents of buildings) of the need for undertaking repair work in these structures and must conduct the structural audits and have served notice to these buildings. After completing the structural audits, the report will be submitted to the civic administration”.

The BNCMC had conducted a pre-monsoon survey of the dangerous and extremely dangerous building. They found out that a total of 107 buildings came under the two categories. Thereafter, the civic authorities have issued the list of dangerous and very dangerous buildings. Out of 107 buildings, 102 have already been evacuated while there is a court stay order in regards to five buildings.
“Out of 107 buildings, 25 come under the dangerous buildings category which are dilapidated structures and are going to be demolished while 82 buildings are in the list of very dangerous buildings. Out of the 82 buildings, 77 buildings have been issued notices to carry out major repair works, while the remaining five buildings have obtained court stay order” Said an official of BNCMC.-By Narendra Gupta
