A Congressman had made mercy application for Kasab, alleges Mumbai BJP MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar

Mumbai: A close aide of former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was in the forefront in demanding the cancellation of death sentence awarded to Ajmal Kasab, the infamous Pakistani terrorist who had carried out terrorist attacks in Mumbai killing hundreds of people on 26/11, alleged Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, MLA, Adv Ashish Shelar on Monday. He further remarked that former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray sits next to leaders from the Congress in the state.

He said this while addressing the 19th public meeting under the ‘Jagar Mumbaicha’ campaign held on Monday at the Dhanpothohar ground in Santacruz, Bandra Legislative Assembly constituency. Ajit Maniyal, Kishore Punvat, former corporator Alkatai Kerkar, Swapna Mhatre, Hetal Gala, Ashok Singh and other office bearers were present during this meeting.

Addressing the public meeting, Shelar stated that Ajmal Kasab, the infamous Pakistani terrorist had carried out terrorist attacks in Mumbai on 26/11 killing hundreds of people. After the court pronounced the death sentence to Kasab, nearly 203 people petitioned the President for mercy. Among them, the one who was at the forefront of demanding cancellation of Kasab’s execution was one of the close aides of Sonia Gandhi. And Uddhav Thackeray sits right next to the leaders of her party in the state.

Launching a scathing attack on the Uddhav Thackeray led Sena faction, the Mumbai BJP president said that on October 22 edition of the daily Saamana it was written that they are welcoming Marathi Muslims. We are not against any religion or caste. We believe in ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. But we are strictly against appeasement and sycophancy. There are deliberate attempts to create Marathi Muslims. Then why are they against Marathi Gujaratis? Why do they stand against Marathi Jain? Why don’t they tolerate Marathi North Indians? Why are they against Marathi Hindu, questioned MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar. 

He said that currently Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is working on the math of Marathi and Muslim votes in every single ward. Despite ruling over Mumbai for 25 long years, still why do they feel the need to ask for votes on the basis of caste and religion? Why not ask for votes based on the works undertaken? Tell us how many projects you have completed, how many roads you built, or how many schools you constructed?

Shelar remarked that the Uddhav Thackeray led Sena faction is not able to give information about any of these projects. Sensing that they will soon lose control over the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), they are playing this foul game. Asking for votes on the basis of caste and religion seems to be the next agenda of Uddhav’s Shiv Sena. This is nothing but to deceive both the Marathi and the Muslims. Meanwhile, Shelar expressed confidence that the BJP will succeed in getting the votes of the Hindu Marathi and the Muslims as well.

“We are not against any religion or caste. We believe in ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. But we are strictly against appeasement and sycophancy. There is a ploy to divide the Hindus but the BJP will never let them succeed in it”, warned MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar. 

He said that they have already demanded that Aftab, in the Shraddha Walkar case, be hanged, and added that the Shiv Sena is not supporting our demand. Was there pressure on her because she was Walkar or was the police pressured into not taking any action against Aftab because he was Aftab? It is surprising that Uddhavji is not prepared to utter a single word about it. 

No action is being taken against the encroachment of 40,000 plots in Mumbai and all this is happening only to appease the Muslim voters, criticised MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar.
