Mumbai: In politics it is often said that you have to be mindful of what you say or do as history has a nasty habit of confronting you with your past deeds or words. Earlier in the day, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar when asked about his grand-nephew advocating Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput had retorted back terming him “immature” and “not paying a dime worth of importance”. By late evening his detractors had dished out the NCP patriarchs February 28, 2020 Rajya Sabha poll affidavit in which it is revealed that Pawar senior had loaned Rs 50 lakhs from the same Parth Pawar.

By late evening, Parth Pawar’s father and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar accompanied by state NCP president and Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil rushed to Sharad Pawar’s Silver Oakes residence. However, the details of what transpired at the meeting are not known as yet.

Earlier in the day, when asked by newspersons about Parth Pawar supporting the demand for a CBI probe into the late Bollywood actors alleged suicide, the NCP patriarch remarked “”We attach absolutely no importance to what my grand-nephew says. He is immature…I have clearly said that I have 100 per cent trust in the Maharashtra Police and Mumbai Police. But if someone still wants a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into it, then there is no reason to oppose that too.”

It may be recalled that on July 27, Parth Pawar had met state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and demanded that the Sushant Singh Rajput case be handed over to the CBI or a Special Investigation Team (SIT) be formed with forensic experts to probe it.

But hardly had the NCP chief and the party had hoped that the controversy would die down, the NCP chiefs poll affidavit filed on February 28, 2020 for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections revealed that the NCP patriarch had loaned Rs 50 lakh from his grand-nephew whom he had termed as “immature” and “not worth paying a dime of importance”.

It is not that enough, the NCP chief had even loaned a similar Rs 50 lakhs from Parth Pawar’s mother and Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar. The details of the sums so loaned from Parth Pawar and his mother Sunetra Pawar are mentioned in the declaration column on “any other liabilities” in the Rajya Sabha election poll affidavit.

Speaking to thenews21, state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhye while reacting to the developments remarked “we would not like to make any comments on what is purely the internal matter of the Pawar family. But the same person who was labeled as immature was also given the party ticket in the Lok Sabha elections. Secondly, both Parth Pawar and Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra-Gandhi too had recently uttered the dialogue ‘Jai Shri Ram’. How can they be called as immature”.
