BJP expels five rebels, includes sitting MLA Charan Waghmare from Tumsar

Mumbai: For a party which once prided itself of being “the party with a difference”, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday had to expel five of its rebels for defying its dictate and contesting against partys official candidates. The list includes sitting MLA from Tumsar, Charan Waghmare who rebelled against party nominee Pradeep Padole. Already, some party loyalists and old guard from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have voiced their displeasure over the import of leaders from other political parties and being given party tickets.

Sitting BJP MLA from Tumsar, Charan Waghmare has been expelled from the party after he defied party whip and is contesting as an Independent against partys official candidate Pradeep Padole. Mira-Bhayander corporators Gita Jain too has been expelled from the party for raising a banner of revolt against sitting BJP MLA and candidate Narendra Mehta.

Balasaheb Ovhal has been expelled from the party for contesting as an Independent against party nominee Laxman Jagtap in Pimpri-Chinchwad assembly constituency. Dilip Deshmukh has been expelled from the party for rebelling against partys official candidate Vinayak Kisan Jadhav in Ahmedpur constituency in Latur district. While, Santosh Janathe who has rebelled and is contesting as an Independent in Palghar (ST) constituency has quit the party. Besides this, former party leader Dr Ravindra Arali has filed his nomination papers as an Independent against partys sitting MLA Vilas Jagtap from Jath in Sangli district.
