Supreme Court rejects former CM Devendra Fadnavis review petition, will face trial for hiding two criminal cases

In a major setback to former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Supreme Court rejected his review petition that he wanted the apex court to cancel criminal proceedings against him for failure to disclose two pending criminal cases against him in an election affidavit.

“We find no ground to interfere in the review petitions. The same are dismissed,” a three-judge bench of the top court comprising justices Arun Mishra, Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose ruled on Tuesday.

Former Maharashtra CM had challenged the Supreme Court’s decision that had declined to interfere with the criminal proceedings against the ex-Maharashtra chief minister for the affidavit filed for the 2014 elections.
