Lucknow Coaching Centre Fire Horror: 14 Killed, Multiple Injured as Students Jump From Building to Escape Blaze

Massive Fire Triggers Panic in Aliganj

A devastating fire at a coaching institute in Lucknow’s Aliganj area claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left several others injured on Monday afternoon, triggering a massive rescue operation and scenes of panic as students desperately tried to escape the smoke-filled building.

The blaze broke out around 3 pm at a coaching centre in the Purnia locality, quickly engulfing parts of the multi-storey structure and trapping dozens inside. Thick smoke billowed into the sky as emergency teams and local residents rushed to help those stranded.

Students Jumped to Save Their Lives

Eyewitnesses said several students jumped from the building after flames and smoke spread rapidly across the premises.

According to a local resident, “Seven to eight students jumped from the building to save themselves. However, around 20 to 25 students are still feared trapped inside.”

The incident drew large crowds as firefighters and police personnel worked to evacuate those inside amid chaotic scenes.

Rescue Teams Launch Intensive Search

Eight fire tenders were deployed immediately after the incident was reported, with rescue personnel battling heavy smoke and intense heat to reach trapped students.

Officials confirmed that multiple people were rescued during the operation, while search teams continued combing the damaged structure amid fears that additional victims could still be inside.

To speed up evacuation efforts, rescuers created an opening through an adjoining wall, allowing stretchers and emergency equipment to be moved into inaccessible sections of the building.

Search Continues After Blaze Brought Under Control

Even after firefighters managed to contain the flames, rescue teams continued searching the premises for missing students. During the operation, two bodies covered with cloth were brought out on stretchers, highlighting the scale of the tragedy.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially established, and forensic teams are expected to inspect the site after cooling operations are completed.

Senior Officials Monitor Situation

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reached the spot to review rescue efforts and coordinate with district administration and fire department officials.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured while extending all possible assistance to the affected families.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident as rescue and relief operations continue.
