5 Big Decisions From INDIA Bloc Meet: Opposition Seeks Minister’s Exit, Poll Roll Probe And Regular Strategy Sessions

Opposition Leaders Gather To Chart Future Course

In one of the largest opposition gatherings in recent months, leaders representing 25 political parties under the INDIA bloc banner convened in New Delhi and adopted a five-point action agenda aimed at strengthening coordination and raising a series of national issues.

The meeting brought together senior leaders from across the political spectrum as opposition parties looked to build a united strategy ahead of upcoming electoral battles and parliamentary sessions.

Electoral Roll Revision To Be Raised Before Chief Justice

One of the most significant decisions taken during the meeting was to approach the Chief Justice of India regarding concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Opposition leaders expressed apprehensions about alleged irregularities in voter lists and indicated that a formal communication highlighting these concerns would be submitted to the country’s highest judicial authority.

Opposition Targets Centre Over Examination Issues

The alliance also sharpened its attack on the Union government over examination-related controversies affecting students across the country.

Leaders unanimously backed a demand seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, arguing that concerns surrounding major examinations, including NEET and CBSE-related issues, warranted accountability at the highest level.

Economic Distress Emerges As Key Focus Area

Economic concerns dominated a major portion of the discussions, with opposition parties calling for an all-party meeting to deliberate on what they described as pressing national challenges.

The bloc highlighted rising unemployment, inflation, farmer-related concerns and issues affecting weaker sections of society, urging the Centre to initiate broader political consultations on these matters.

INDIA Bloc To Meet Every Two Months

In a move aimed at ensuring stronger coordination, participating parties agreed to hold structured meetings once every two months.

The next gathering is expected to take place in Hyderabad in August, with the exact schedule to be announced later. Leaders believe regular interactions will help maintain unity and improve coordination among alliance partners.

Monsoon Session Strategy Finalised

The opposition alliance also decided to intensify parliamentary coordination during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Under the plan, alliance leaders will hold daily morning strategy meetings to coordinate floor management, discuss legislative issues and formulate a common approach on major debates.

Top Opposition Leaders Participate

The meeting witnessed participation from several prominent leaders, including Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti.

Representatives of Left parties, NCP (SP) and several regional outfits also attended the deliberations, while some leaders joined virtually.
