Ashok Gehlot Breaks Silence On Congress Rift, Says Time Has Come To Move Beyond Past Differences

Gehlot Reflects On Long-Running Differences Within Rajasthan Congress

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has once again addressed the internal challenges that have shaped the state’s Congress politics in recent years, speaking candidly about his equation with senior party leader Sachin Pilot and the lingering impact of past political disputes.

In a detailed statement, Gehlot emphasized the importance of moving beyond old controversies and focusing on strengthening the party at a time when it faces significant political challenges both in Rajasthan and across the country.

Gehlot Says He Backed Pilot’s Rise In National Politics

One of the key points raised by Gehlot was his claim that he had actively supported Pilot’s entry into the Union Cabinet during an earlier phase of his political career.

According to Gehlot, Pilot had approached him seeking assistance, and he played a role in helping secure the ministerial opportunity. While recalling the episode, Gehlot expressed disappointment that the support he extended was never publicly acknowledged.

He suggested that even a simple recognition of that assistance could have helped improve trust between the two leaders over the years.

Former CM Revisits Manesar Controversy

Gehlot also revisited the much-discussed Manesar political episode, a chapter that continues to be referenced in Rajasthan Congress politics.

Rejecting suggestions that the developments amounted to a challenge against the party’s central leadership, Gehlot argued that the matter was essentially an internal dispute that should no longer dominate political discussions.

He maintained that the legislators who gathered during the crisis were acting out of loyalty to the party and its leadership, rather than in opposition to it.

Questions Media Narratives Around Internal Congress Politics

The veteran Congress leader criticized sections of the media for what he described as exaggerated narratives surrounding internal party developments.

Gehlot argued that repeated speculation about leadership positions and future political roles often creates unnecessary controversy and can complicate relationships within the party.

According to him, continued focus on past disagreements has prevented political leaders from fully concentrating on present challenges and future goals.

‘No Personal Enmity’ With Sachin Pilot

Despite years of political tension and public disagreements, Gehlot stressed that his relationship with Pilot is not rooted in personal hostility.

He said the two leaders continue to interact cordially and have known each other for many years. Gehlot added that he has always viewed Pilot with affection and does not carry any personal bitterness despite their political differences.

His remarks appeared aimed at dispelling the perception that the divide between the two Congress leaders remains irreparable.

Call For Collective Effort To Strengthen Congress

Shifting focus from past conflicts, Gehlot urged Congress leaders to concentrate on the larger political challenges facing the party.

He emphasized that all leaders—from senior veterans to younger politicians and the current state leadership—must work together to strengthen the organization and build public confidence.

The former chief minister also pointed to recent encouragement from Rahul Gandhi regarding the Rajasthan Congress unit, saying it reflected the confidence that the party leadership continues to place in the state’s organization.
