Tanmay Mahansaria, Jay Mhatre Shine in Kalpesh Koli Memorial Cricket Tournament

Mumbai: Slow left-arm spinners Tanmay Mahansaria and Jay Mhatre produced outstanding bowling performances in the semi-finals of the 34th edition of the Under-16 LIC Kalpesh Govind Koli Memorial Cricket Tournament played in Mumbai.

At Matunga Gymkhana, Tanmay Mahansaria claimed an impressive five-wicket haul of 5/33 to help bowl out MCA Academy Centre for 155 in 49.1 overs despite a fighting half-century from Moksha Shah.

Moksha Shah remained unbeaten on 67 after facing 82 balls during his 104-minute stay at the crease. His innings included nine boundaries and two sixes.

In reply, Thane Centre reached 91/2 in 26 overs at stumps on the opening day of the two-day semi-final.

Nirav Bhorkar remained unbeaten on 30, while Parth Rane contributed 33 runs for Thane Centre.

In the second semi-final at the DPCC ground in Matunga, Churchgate Centre spinner Jay Mhatre delivered a brilliant spell of 6/11 to dismiss Virar Centre for just 101 in 36.4 overs.

Saif Ali top-scored for Virar Centre with 38 runs.

Churchgate Centre responded strongly and finished the day at 145/2 in 39.4 overs.

Shlok Bongu remained unbeaten on 42, while Aarush Kolhe was unbeaten on 32 as Churchgate Centre gained a strong advantage heading into the next day.
