‘No Cabinet Posts for Rebel AIADMK MLAs’: Vijay’s TVK Sends Strong Message After Allies Object

TVK Clears Air Over Rebel AIADMK Leaders

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay and his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam have reportedly assured alliance partners that rebel AIADMK legislators supporting the government will not be given cabinet positions.

The clarification came after growing political speculation that some breakaway AIADMK MLAs backing the TVK-led government could be rewarded with ministerial posts during the upcoming cabinet expansion.

The issue triggered concern among key allies, especially the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and Left parties, which opposed any formal power-sharing arrangement involving rebel AIADMK members.

VCK Warned TVK Over Cabinet Rumours

VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan publicly stated that his party had already communicated its objections to TVK leadership.

He warned that giving cabinet posts to rebel AIADMK legislators could create political complications within the alliance and may force supporting parties to rethink their position.

However, Thirumavalavan later confirmed that TVK had informed allies there was no plan to include the rebel faction in the ministry.

Political sources also indicated that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had expressed similar concerns during internal discussions.

Vijay Preparing for Major Cabinet Expansion

The controversy comes as TVK prepares for a major cabinet expansion expected in the coming days.

TVK general secretary Aadhav Arjuna said the government remains committed to sharing power with alliance partners that supported the party’s rise to power in Tamil Nadu.

According to party leaders, the Congress is likely to receive representation in the ministry, while invitations have also reportedly been extended to the VCK and the IUML.

TVK has described the upcoming expansion as a new model of coalition governance in Tamil Nadu politics.

First Big Political Test for Vijay Government

The cabinet issue has emerged as one of the first major political challenges for Vijay since taking office earlier this month.

The TVK leadership is now trying to balance alliance expectations while also managing support from independent and rebel legislators outside the formal coalition structure.

Political analysts say the handling of cabinet distribution could shape the long-term stability of the new Tamil Nadu government.

The developments also highlight the growing influence of alliance partners in decision-making within the new administration.

Tamil Nadu Politics Enters Coalition Era

TVK leaders have claimed that Tamil Nadu is witnessing a new phase of coalition and power-sharing politics not seen in decades.

Observers believe the coming cabinet expansion will be closely watched as it may define how Vijay manages competing political interests inside the alliance.

For now, TVK’s decision to keep rebel AIADMK MLAs away from cabinet positions appears aimed at preventing friction within the ruling bloc and maintaining unity among supporting parties.
