Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has strongly dismissed rumours surrounding the ‘Pink Card’ scheme for women’s free bus travel, calling them “political propaganda.”
The clarification comes after claims surfaced that women passengers could not use the card multiple times if they boarded another bus after getting down.
CM Says ‘100% Working’, Calls Claims False
Addressing the issue, Rekha Gupta made it clear that the system is functioning without any problem.
She said, “Under political propaganda, a few political people are attempting to spread rumours on Pink Card for the women of Delhi that if you travel once on bus and tap it once and then get off the bus to take another it cannot be tapped again, this is a lie, your cards are working 100 percent fine, you need not worry and you can get your Pink Card made easily.”
‘No Private Benefit’, CM Hits Back at Critics
The Chief Minister also suggested that misinformation is being spread because the scheme does not benefit private players.
She stated that the Pink Card system ensures that the benefits of free travel go directly to women commuters and not to any private entity, which is “irking some people.”
What Is the ‘Pink Card’ Scheme?
The Pink Card scheme allows women in Delhi to travel free of cost on government buses.
It is aimed at:
- Improving women’s mobility
- Ensuring safer public transport access
- Reducing daily travel expenses
The card-based system is designed to make the process smoother and more transparent.
