Amid rising tensions in the Middle East affecting fuel supply chains, a growing shortage of LPG cylinders is now leading to an alarming spike in theft cases across several parts of India, sparking fear among residents.
Theft Cases Rise Across Multiple States
From Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh, incidents of LPG cylinder theft are being reported frequently. Authorities say the tightening supply has made cylinders a valuable target, leading to a noticeable increase in such crimes.
Retired Judge’s House in Bhopal Targeted
In a shocking incident from Bhopal, four empty LPG cylinders were stolen from the residence of a retired judge in the Lalghati area.
Police said three bike-borne thieves entered the premises around 12:30 am on March 15 and fled with the cylinders. The entire act was captured on CCTV cameras, and officials are now scanning the footage to identify the accused.
Shivpuri Burglary Caught on Camera
A similar case was reported from Shivpuri, where a house in Krishnapuram Colony was looted while the owner was away.
CCTV footage shows the thief carrying the LPG cylinder on his shoulder before escaping. Apart from the cylinder, jewellery, cash, and important documents were also stolen, indicating a planned burglary.
Raipur Incident Raises Alarm
In Raipur, a businessman’s house in Bajaj Colony was also targeted.
The CCTV visuals show the accused scaling the boundary wall, checking the surroundings, and escaping with a gas cylinder under the cover of darkness without alerting anyone.
Police Launch Investigation
Police in all affected areas have launched investigations and are using CCTV footage to trace the culprits. Officials believe that the ongoing LPG shortage has made cylinders an easy and high-demand target for thieves.
Residents Fear Growing Crisis
With supply already tight, the rise in theft cases has increased anxiety among residents. The combination of shortage and crime is creating a serious concern, with people demanding stronger security measures and faster police action.
Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to solve the cases and prevent further incidents, but the growing trend has already raised serious questions about safety and supply management.
