New Delhi: Penguin Random House India (PRHI) has clarified that it is the exclusive publisher of former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s memoir, Four Stars of Destiny, and confirmed that the book has not yet been released to the public. The clarification comes after reports of unauthorized copies being circulated, prompting Delhi Police to register an FIR over the alleged illegal distribution in digital and other forms.

In an official statement, PRHI said that any copies currently circulating, whether printed or digital, are unauthorized and illegal. “Penguin Random House India holds the sole publishing rights for Four Stars of Destiny. No version of the book, in print, PDF, digital, or any other format, has been officially released. Any circulating copies do not represent an official publication and violate copyright law,” the statement said.

The controversy has also extended to Parliament. Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi was seen carrying a copy of the book, which led to disruptions in the Lok Sabha. Lawmakers reportedly blocked him from quoting excerpts from the memoir, particularly references to the India-China border standoff of 2020, during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address.

PRHI emphasized that the book has not been made public, and warned that any further unauthorized circulation must immediately cease.
