Delhi: New Delhi witnessed a major protest on Monday as members of several Hindu organisations gathered outside the Bangladesh High Commission to demand justice for Hindu worker Dipu Chandra Das, who was recently lynched, and to highlight ongoing attacks on minority communities in Bangladesh. The demonstration turned intense when some protesters broke barricades while attempting to march closer to the High Commission premises.

Security forces, including police and paramilitary personnel, were deployed in large numbers to maintain order and prevent any breach of the diplomatic area. The protest saw active participation from groups such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, and Sarbo Bharatiya Hindi Bangali Sangathan, with demonstrators shouting slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Bangladesh Murdabad,” and “Hindu Hatya Band Karo.”

The demonstrators demanded accountability from Bangladeshi authorities and pressed for stronger protection of minority communities in the neighbouring country. One protester highlighted the perceived danger to Hindus, asserting that India belongs to Lord Ram.

Amid rising tensions, Bangladesh has temporarily suspended its consular and visa services in New Delhi and Agartala. The Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, was summoned by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the situation. Bangladesh, in turn, expressed concerns over attacks on its diplomatic missions in India.
