Belem (Brazil): BJP leader and social worker Santosh Gangan from Maharashtra has been included in the official Indian delegation participating in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) being held in Belem, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
COP30 has brought together countries from across the world to deliberate on urgent global climate challenges, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening climate-friendly policies, and mobilising international climate finance.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led India’s delegation at several previous COP summits, this year the Indian contingent is being headed by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav.

Santosh Gangan, who serves on various committees of the Central Government and works with several national-level social organisations, has been actively involved in the fields of waste management, innovative environmental technology, and nature conservation. Several government agencies have implemented successful waste-management projects based on his suggestions.
Recognising his work, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has included him in the Indian delegation following an invitation from the United Nations.
The COP30 Summit will focus on advancing India’s climate action agenda under the vision of “Green India”. Delegates will highlight India’s contributions to global climate efforts, including its commitments under the Paris Agreement, expansion of renewable energy, climate-resilient development, and community-driven environmental initiatives.
India will present its unified stand emphasising sustainable development, technological innovation, and inclusive climate action, reflecting the nation’s resolve to contribute meaningfully to global climate solutions.
