Gaza: An Israeli airstrike struck the fourth floor of Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza on Monday, killing at least 15 people, including three journalists, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

The strike targeted Gaza’s largest medical facility in the south, already overwhelmed by shortages and the ongoing conflict. The Associated Press, citing the health ministry, reported the attack as a “double-tap” strike — when a second missile follows the first, hitting rescuers and survivors.

Among those killed were journalists affiliated with Al Jazeera and Reuters. The Israeli military has yet to issue a statement on this specific incident. In earlier cases, Israel has said strikes near or inside hospitals were aimed at Hamas militants allegedly using medical facilities for cover.

This is not the first time Nasser Hospital has come under fire. In June, an Israeli strike on the same facility killed three and injured ten, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claiming it was targeting a Hamas command centre inside.

The Gaza health ministry reports that more than 62,686 Palestinians have been killed in the 22-month-long conflict. It does not separate civilians from fighters but estimates that half of the victims were women and children.
