Owaisi Slams BJP’s Ministerial Arrest Bill, Calls It “Unconstitutional” and a Step Towards a Police State

New Delhi: AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday strongly criticized the proposed bill that seeks to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and Union or State Ministers if they are held on serious criminal charges. Speaking in Parliament, Owaisi called the legislation “unconstitutional” and raised pointed questions: “Who will arrest the Prime Minister? All in all, the BJP government wants to make our country a police state through these bills. We will oppose them. The BJP is forgetting that power is not eternal.”

Owaisi’s remarks reflect growing opposition concerns that the proposed laws could be misused to target political adversaries and destabilize non-BJP governments. Several opposition parties have already vowed to challenge the legislation if it is passed.
