14 Killed in Thailand-Cambodia Border Clashes; Indian Embassy Issues Travel Advisory

Bangkok: Amid escalating border violence between Thailand and Cambodia, the Indian Embassy in Bangkok has issued a formal travel advisory urging Indian nationals to avoid conflict-prone areas and stay alert. The advisory follows reports of at least 14 deaths, including civilians and soldiers, in a series of violent clashes along the southeastern border regions of Thailand.

Tensions began to rise earlier this week when Thai military patrols allegedly encountered landmines near the disputed border zone, injuring several soldiers. The situation worsened when retaliatory strikes reportedly led to cross-border shelling and airstrikes, affecting both military installations and civilian settlements. Thai authorities have confirmed that 46 people have been injured in the violence so far.

In light of the deteriorating security environment, the Indian Embassy has asked Indian citizens to refrain from traveling to provinces close to the Cambodian border. Areas in Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Ubon Ratchathani, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat have been flagged as unsafe, with many tourist attractions and border checkpoints temporarily shut down. These include popular sites like national parks, ancient temples, and local markets frequented by Indian and international tourists.

Travelers already in Thailand are being advised to remain updated through official Thai government sources and to avoid venturing into remote areas near the border. The embassy has also activated a 24×7 emergency helpline for Indian nationals requiring assistance.
