TMC MP Mahua Moitra Slams Election Commission Over Voter Irregularities in Bihar

New Delhi: TMC MP Mahua Moitra has launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission of India, raising serious questions over the integrity of the electoral process in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Moitra alleged that the Commission, which is meant to be an independent constitutional body, is now functioning as an extended arm of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

She expressed concern over a sudden surge in the number of “untraceable” voters in Bihar. According to Moitra, within just 24 hours, the number rose dramatically from over 11,000 to more than 1 lakh. She questioned the credibility of such data and pointed fingers at the Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking an explanation for the alleged existence of 56 lakh illegal voters in the state.

Moitra also criticized Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, claiming that he is speaking in a manner more akin to a party spokesperson than a neutral constitutional authority.
