Chhattisgarh: Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government following fresh Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at his residence. Baghel linked the action to a broader pattern of political targeting of opposition leaders and alleged that the raids were intended to benefit industrialist Gautam Adani.
Reacting strongly to the developments, Bhupesh Baghel stated, “A matter related to Adani has come up. To make him happy, Modi & Shah have sent the ED (Enforcement Directorate) to my residence. We will not be scared. We will not bow down before them. They are targeting all opposition leaders in the country. ED had visited my residence earlier as well. We will fully cooperate with the agencies. We have faith in democracy and the judiciary.”
The raids are reportedly part of an ongoing investigation, though the ED has yet to officially release details of the latest action. Baghel emphasized that he and his party stand committed to transparency and legal procedure but accused the government of weaponizing central agencies for political gain.
This is not the first instance of ED action involving Baghel. In the past, too, the Congress leader has been under the scanner, which his party has consistently attributed to “political harassment.”
