Mumbai: A day after tensions flared in the lobby of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MLA Rohit Pawar made serious allegations regarding a supposed planned attack on senior party leader Jitendra Awhad. The incident involved a scuffle between the supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and Awhad, escalating political tensions in the state.
Speaking to reporters, Rohit Pawar claimed, “…Four people planned to attack the NCP-SCP leader Jitendra Awhad outside the Maharashtra Assembly yesterday as he received threats on WhatsApp and messages from the workers of the new ‘aaka’… The new ‘aaka’ gives signals from a distance, and these four goons committed hooliganism there… These kinds of incidents will lead to distrust among the people of Maharashtra…”
The term “new aaka” is being interpreted as a veiled reference to influential political forces allegedly orchestrating attacks through their followers. Pawar’s strong remarks reflect growing tension between the opposition NCP (Sharad Pawar group) and the ruling coalition.
