Josh-e-Watan Volleyball Championship held in Handwara under “My Youth My Pride” initiative

Srinagar: In a significant move to promote youth engagement and commemorate the supreme sacrifice of braveheart DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat, the Josh-e-Watan Volleyball Championship was organized at the Indoor Sports Stadium Handwara under the banner of “My Youth My Pride.”

The event was a collaborative effort by Youth Civil Society Kashmir, Handwara Police, and the J&K Sports Council. A total of eight teams from across various districts of Kashmir Valley participated in the championship, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and unity among the youth.

The championship was inaugurated by DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman (IPS), who lauded the passion and energy of the young participants. He also commended the organizers for hosting an event that carries deep emotional and social significance.

The concluding prize distribution ceremony was graced by SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS), who presented trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the winning and runner-up teams. In his address, SSP Handwara praised the players for their enthusiastic participation and acknowledged the vital role of civil society in empowering youth through constructive platforms like sports. He emphasized the importance of remembering and honouring those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Local residents, particularly the youth, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of Handwara Police in creating such meaningful opportunities. They also voiced hope that similar events will continue to be organized to channel the talents of the younger generation in a positive direction.
