Lalu Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav Cleared for Commercial Pilot Training, Set to Soar High in Aviation Career

Patna: In a surprising and inspiring turn, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, is preparing to take flight—literally. The Directorate of Aviation Training has officially selected Tej Pratap for admission to its prestigious Commercial Pilot License (CPL) course, marking a significant milestone in his pursuit of an aviation career.

Tej Pratap, who is currently an MLA from Hasanpur in Samastipur district, has ranked fifth on the final merit list under the general category. He is one of 18 candidates selected out of 20 available seats across categories. The final list was released this week after a rigorous interview and evaluation process that concluded in the 2023–24 academic cycle.

With this clearance, Tej Pratap Yadav is now eligible to begin formal pilot training and is set to embark on a journey that few politicians have attempted — transitioning from politics to aviation.

This isn’t the first time the former Bihar minister has spoken about his passion for flying. During Operation Sindoor, an evacuation mission led by India in the Middle East, Tej Pratap had proudly posted a picture of himself in a pilot’s uniform along with his training certificates. He declared his readiness to serve the nation, even from the skies.

“If pilot training can be useful for the country, then I, Tej Pratap Yadav, am always ready to serve. I have taken pilot training and even if I lose my life for the country, I would consider myself fortunate. Jai Hind,” he had posted on X.
