Surjewala’s Fierce Attack on Haryana Govt: ‘Gangsters Rule, Citizens Fear, Police Silent’

Chandigarh: In a scathing political offensive, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala has launched a blistering critique of the BJP-led Haryana government, accusing it of fostering a “lawless regime” and acting as a “protector of criminals.”

Surjewala’s comments came in response to a recent media investigation that allegedly revealed a growing nexus between criminals and elements within the state administration. Sharpening his attack on Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Surjewala said the state has transformed into a haven for mafia networks and organised crime.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Surjewala declared, “Under BJP’s rule, criminals roam free while the public lives in fear. Haryana’s image has been reduced to that of a gangster state, where mafias, goons, and criminals dictate terms while the police and administration look the other way.”

The Congress leader alleged that daylight murders, extortion, and open threats have become disturbingly routine. He added, “Today, the law and order situation in Haryana has completely collapsed. Gangsters are calling the shots even from inside jails, which now function like their personal offices.”

Surjewala went on to highlight that criminal activities are now being coordinated globally. “Criminals sitting abroad are now orchestrating crimes in Haryana through their henchmen. Social media is being used to spread fear, and extortion has become the biggest business under the Saini government,” he stated.

According to Surjewala, what makes the situation worse is the alleged “indirect political patronage” given to these networks. “Haryana is no longer safe. The common man is living under a shadow of fear. Crime has become sophisticated, organised and emboldened due to political protection,” he claimed, citing a media report that underscores the alleged criminal-administration collusion.
