“Sonam Should Be Hanged”: Raja Raghuvanshi’s Mother Meets Accused’s Brother Govind

Indore: In a deeply emotional moment that captured the tragic complexity of the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, met Govind — the elder brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused — at her residence in Indore on Wednesday. The meeting comes weeks after Raja was brutally murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, a case that has shocked the nation.

After the meeting, Uma Raghuvanshi addressed the media, saying, “Govind said that Sonam should be hanged. He is in pain for Raja, not Sonam… Govind is not at fault.” She added that Govind showed genuine remorse and supported the family’s demand for justice.

Recounting her conversation, Uma said, “I asked Govind if he had met Sonam. He said that he met her for three minutes. I asked him why he did not hit her. He said that he did not get a chance as there was media and Police.”

Earlier in the day, Govind visited Raja’s grieving family in Indore and later made a powerful statement to the press. According to news agency, he said, “Sonam doesn’t consider herself guilty. There has been no contact… We have severed all ties with her… We will fight on behalf of Raja.”
