New Delhi: In a significant development amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to brief her on the Indian Armed Forces’ successful precision strikes against terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, code-named ‘Operation Sindoor,’ targeted nine locations, including key headquarters and training centers of the Pakistan-based terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). These locations were believed to be central in planning and coordinating terror attacks against India.

The military air strikes were launched early Wednesday morning, two weeks after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including a Nepali citizen. The targeted sites included facilities that had been used for training and directing terrorist activities. The Indian government has made it clear that these actions were aimed at neutralizing terrorist infrastructure and ensuring the safety of its citizens.

Following the escalation, Prime Minister Modi has decided to postpone his upcoming international visit to Croatia, Norway, and the Netherlands. He was scheduled to attend the Nordic Summit in Norway from May 13 to 17, but sources suggest that the ongoing security situation in the region led to this change in plans.
