Lucknow: Following the precision airstrikes by Indian armed forces under Operation Sindoor, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) to heighten internal security and safeguard critical infrastructure across the state. The move comes in the wake of India’s targeted strikes on terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), launched in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

In swift compliance with the Chief Minister’s directive, DGP Prashant Kumar issued a comprehensive set of instructions to all police districts, commissionerates, and specialized units to tighten security and enhance readiness.

The security measures outlined include the reinforcement and upgradation of protection around all vital installations and critical infrastructure across the state. This encompasses mock drills under the Internal Security Scheme, complete with thorough briefings and debriefings to ensure operational preparedness.

Police lines, district offices, and depots will undergo a resource audit and will be fortified with tightened access control. Senior police officials have been instructed to coordinate closely with central agencies and military units, facilitating the secure movement of army convoys, sensitive materials like ATF fuel for the Air Force, and ensuring the security of key routes such as railway bridges.

With communal harmony a priority, the state has placed all communally sensitive districts on high alert, deploying additional forces in vulnerable locations. The protection net also extends to critical infrastructure including oil pipelines, water supply systems, communication networks, electricity substations, and thermal power plants.

The DGP’s directive emphasizes intensifying intelligence gathering to preempt any potential acts of sabotage or information leaks. Social media monitoring has been escalated to a round-the-clock operation, with dedicated teams set up to tackle misinformation swiftly.

District control rooms have been placed on high alert and UP-112 emergency response vehicles are being stationed at strategic points for rapid deployment. Senior police officials have been tasked with actively coordinating efforts with district administrations, civil defence units, and stakeholders from the army and air force.

Additional precautions have been ordered along the Indo-Nepal border, with increased vigilance in collaboration with national security agencies.
