Srinagar: In a significant initiative to promote sportsmanship and community engagement the Kupwara police successfully conducted the final match of the Kupwara police Women’s Cricket Tournament 2025 at DPL Kupwara here on Saturday.
The tournament, which commenced on March 18, featured eight teams from across the Kupwara district. The final match was an intense showdown between Girls AGS Chandigam and Wonder Girls Lolab, with Wonder Girls Lolab emerging victorious.
The closing ceremony was graced by SSP Kupwara, Ghulam Jeelani Wani (JKPS), along with deputy SP DAR Kupwara and other senior officers. The event witnessed a large turnout of enthusiastic spectators, reinforcing the importance of sports in community-building.
During the prize distribution ceremony, SSP Kupwara felicitated the winners and runners-up with trophies, mementos, and cash prizes. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 10,000. The SSP commended the players for their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship.
The successful conclusion of the Women’s Cricket Tournament provided a dynamic platform for young female athletes to showcase their talent. Such initiatives aim to foster mutual cooperation and strengthen the bond between the police and the local community.
