New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, widely regarded as an architect of India’s economic resurgence, was cremated with full state honors at Delhi’s Nigambodh Ghat. Rahul Gandhi further criticized the government’s approach, claiming it lacked the respect that Dr. Singh earned through his transformative economic policies. “He led India for a decade, turning it into an economic superpower. His policies lifted millions out of poverty. To cremate him at Nigambodh Ghat, instead of giving him the honor of a designated burial site, reflects this government’s disregard for his monumental contributions,” Gandhi asserted.
The BJP, however, dismissed the allegations as political posturing, emphasizing that Dr. Singh was cremated with full state honors. The controversy has ignited a fresh debate over how former leaders’ legacies are preserved and respected.
