Mumbai: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the Mahanubhav Ashram Shatakpurti Samaroh, emphasized the importance of understanding religion correctly to prevent atrocities committed in its name. Bhagwat urged various religious sects to educate their followers on the true essence of their faiths, warning that misconceptions could lead to ‘Adharma’ and societal harm.
“There have been atrocities in the world due to misunderstanding of religion. It is necessary to have a society that interprets religion correctly. Religion is very important, and it should be taught properly,” Bhagwat remarked. He further added, “Improper and incomplete knowledge of religion leads to ‘Adharma’. All the oppression and atrocities happening in the world in the name of religion have occurred due to misunderstandings about it. Sects must work to explain their religion clearly to their followers.”
The RSS chief has consistently called for unity and harmony, advocating against divisive rhetoric. He reiterated this stance during a recent event in Pune, highlighting the significance of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya as a symbol of Hindu devotion while stressing the need to avoid creating enmity over divisive issues.
“Coming to the question of devotion, there should be a Ram temple, and it indeed happened. That is a site for the devotion of Hindus,” Bhagwat said at the Hindu Sewa Mahotsav inauguration.
Bhagwat’s remarks underline his broader message of fostering understanding and cooperation among communities to uphold the principles of Dharma and prevent societal discord.
