Srinagar: Independence Day 2024 was celebrated in Police District Handwara with great fervour wherein tricolour was hoisted at each police establishment, tehsil and block headquarters, schools, panchayat ghars etc.
The main function was held at District Police Lines Handwara in which Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Abdul Aziz Rather – JKAS as chief guest hoisted the National Flag and inspected the parade.
SSP Handwara, Dawood Ayoub – JKPS was the guest of honour on the occasion. Besides, Addl.SP Handwara, SDPO Handwara, Dy SP Ops Handwara, Dy SP Ops Kralgund, tehsildar Handwara and other senior officers of civil administration and Police Department were present on the occasion.
The parade was commanded by Dy SP Dr Abdul Majid Magray – JKPS
The contingents of CRPF, IRP, District Police, Women Police, Home Guards and many schools participated in the parade and held a march past.
Besides, colourful cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion.
Awards were presented by the chief guest and guests of honour to the best performers. Also, during the event, exhibition and publicity campaign highlighting the theme of new major Criminal Laws was also presented.
Large number of people witnessed the function. Elaborate security arrangements were made by the District Police Handwara in this behalf.
