The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its second list of candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, featuring prominent figures including union ministers and former chief ministers.
Among the notable nominations, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has been chosen to contest from Maharashtra’s Nagpur constituency, a stronghold for the party.
Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, has secured the ticket for Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur, a constituency he has represented in the past.
From the financial capital of India, Mumbai, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has been nominated to contest from the Mumbai North constituency.
In Maharashtra, Pankaja Munde, a prominent political figure, has secured the nomination to contest from Beed, while Sudhir Mungantiwar has been chosen as the representative for Chandrapur. Former Pune mayor Murlidhar Mohol has been selected as the BJP candidate from the city.
Meanwhile, MoS Bharati Pawar has been re-nominated from Nashik, and Heena Gavit has been re-nominated from Nandurbar. Despite familial ties with the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Raksha Khadse has been retained as the candidate from Raver.
Moving to other states, former Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat has been given the BJP ticket from Haridwar, a crucial seat in the state.
In Karnataka, former CM Basavaraj Bommai will contest from the Haveri constituency, while Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has been nominated from Dharwad.
The legacy continues in Karnataka with BS Yediyurappa’s son BY Raghavendra set to contest from Shimoga, a constituency his father has previously represented. Additionally, Tejaswi Surya, who made headlines as the youngest MP in the previous Lok Sabha, has been repeated as the BJP candidate from Bengaluru South.
