In a significant move towards potential collaboration, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) has shared a list of seats with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), marking a crucial step in their ongoing discussions on seat-sharing arrangements. This development comes after the MVA maintained a reserved stance on seat sharing, prompting the VBA to prepare for independent contestation.

The VBA, having not received any official invitation and faced with a lack of clear communication, had initially geared up to contest independently if an alliance with the MVA couldn’t be forged. However, with the MVA now open to discussions, the VBA has placed its trust in the alliance and submitted a list of seats where it has been actively preparing and is confident of victory. The VBA emphasizes its willingness to negotiate and remains flexible on the proposed seats.

Following this development, the MVA has agreed to convene another meeting to deliberate on the demands put forth by the VBA after internal discussions within its constituent parties.

Central to the VBA’s agenda is the preservation of the Indian Constitution, safeguarding democracy, and combating divisive forces like the BJP-RSS. The VBA expresses optimism for positive discussions with the Shiv Sena (UBT), Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar, and the Indian National Congress (INC).

The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has proposed several key points to the MVA, including nominating common candidates for specific Lok Sabha constituencies and ensuring adequate representation of OBC and minority communities within the alliance. Additionally, the VBA has called for a commitment from all MVA parties to refrain from aligning with the BJP, both before and after the elections.

In line with its proposal, the VBA suggests that common candidates for the Maha Vikas Aghadi should include Manoj Jarange Patil from the Jalna Lok Sabha constituency and Dr. Abhijeet Vaidya from the Pune Lok Sabha Constituency. Furthermore, it advocates for a minimum of 15 OBC candidates across the four parties forming the MVA, alongside a commitment to prevent any party or elected representative from joining the BJP before or after polling. The VBA also stresses the need for at least 3 candidates from minority communities within the MVA.
