In the aftermath of former President Donald Trump being ordered to pay $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll in a defamation case, the columnist’s attorney has suggested that another lawsuit against the ex-US president may be on the horizon. The move comes as Trump continues to publicly target Carroll, prompting her legal team to consider further legal action.

Shawn Crowley, Carroll’s attorney, addressed Trump’s recent comments about her client during an appearance on MSNBC’s ‘Inside With Jen Psaki’ on Monday night. Trump’s remarks at a Michigan rally, where he claimed ignorance of Carroll and dismissed lawsuits against him as “unfair,” prompted Crowley’s response.

Crowley emphasized the falsehood of Trump’s statements, citing the unanimous verdicts of two federal juries that found Trump not only knew Carroll but also sexually assaulted her and subsequently lied about it. She rebuked Trump’s characterization of the legal proceedings and reiterated the defamatory nature of his remarks against Carroll over the past five years.

While Carroll’s legal team had hoped that the substantial financial penalty would deter Trump from further targeting their client, his recent remarks have cast doubt on that prospect. Crowley expressed their determination to pursue legal avenues to protect Carroll’s reputation and seek justice for her.

This isn’t the first time Carroll has hinted at the possibility of additional legal action against Trump. In January, she suggested during an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that she would consider pursuing further litigation if advised by her lawyers. Maddow inquired about Trump’s post-trial behavior, to which Carroll affirmed her readiness to pursue further legal recourse if necessary.

The ongoing legal saga between Carroll and Trump underscores the complexities of defamation cases involving public figures and the challenges of holding powerful individuals accountable for their actions. As the situation unfolds, observers await any potential developments in Carroll’s pursuit of justice against the former president.
