Renowned actor Rituraj Singh, known for his versatile performances across television, films, and web series, breathed his last on Monday night after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. The 59-year-old actor, who was last seen portraying a significant role in the popular daily soap “Anupamaa,” had been battling ailments related to his pancreas for the past few days.
According to close friend Amit Behl, Singh had been undergoing treatment for pancreatic ailments in the hospital as his health gradually worsened. Despite medical intervention, Singh succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest on Monday evening, leaving his colleagues and fans in shock.
Singh’s absence from “Anupamaa” in recent episodes had raised concerns among viewers, unaware of his health struggles behind the scenes. His portrayal of the strict hotel owner Yashpal in the show had garnered appreciation from audiences, adding depth to the storyline alongside lead actress Rupali Ganguly.
Beyond television, Singh had made notable appearances in web series, including the acclaimed “Indian Police Force,” starring Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi. His versatile acting skills had earned him recognition across various platforms.
Singh’s journey in the entertainment industry began with the 1993 show “Tol Mol Ke Bol,” where he played the host, marking his initial rise to fame. Subsequently, he graced several successful television shows such as “Rishtey,” “Kutumb,” “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii,” “CID,” “Adaalat,” “Diya Aur Baati Hum,” and “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.”
In Bollywood, Singh showcased his talent in films like “Badrinath Ki Dulhania,” portraying the role of Varun Dhawan’s orthodox father, and featured in other movies including “Yaariyan 2” and “Satyameva Jayate 2.” His diverse contributions to both television and cinema left an indelible mark on audiences.
