In a significant development, Abida War, the Chairperson/President of JKSEWWA (Jammu and Kashmir Social Empowerment and Welfare Workers Association) and Vice President of JKECC (Jammu and Kashmir Empowered Citizens Council), recently met with Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor (LG) at Raj Bhawan Srinagar. The meeting aimed to address various pressing issues in the domain of social welfare and women empowerment in the Union Territory.

During the meeting, Abida War brought to the LG’s attention several important concerns, including the long-pending stagnation file of Poshan Supervisors and the need to streamline their monthly salaries. The discussion further encompassed challenges faced by female employees at workplaces and the concept of establishing Common Women Empowerment Hub Centres at block levels.

Another crucial aspect of the meeting involved deliberations on scholarships for students at various educational levels.

The LG gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by Ms. Abida War and assured her of prompt redressal concerning the concerns of supervisors and the broader social welfare landscape.

In addition to the various topics covered, Abida War underscored the urgent need for a separate Women and Child Development Department in Jammu and Kashmir UT. This department would focus solely on the holistic development and empowerment of women and children in the region.

The meeting served as a platform for constructive dialogue and demonstrated the administration’s commitment to addressing critical social issues and fostering inclusive growth in Jammu and Kashmir. As the government takes note of these concerns, stakeholders remain hopeful for positive outcomes and tangible improvements in the lives of those served by the social welfare system.
