Moscow: In a new foreign policy statement issued on March 31, the Russian Federation has stressed upon striving towards building a system of international relations that would guarantee reliable security, preservation of its cultural & civilizational identity, & equal opportunities for the development for all states, regardless of their geographical location, size of territory, demographic, resource & military capacity, or political, economic & social structure.

As per the Concept of the foreign policy spelt out by Russian President Vladimir Putin by a decree, Russia consistently advocates strengthening the legal fundamentals of international relations, & faithfully complies with its international legal obligations.

Russia proceeds from the indivisibility of international security (in global & regional aspects) & seeks to ensure it equally for all states on the basis of the principle of reciprocity. Russia is open to joint actions together with all interested states & interstate associations to shape a renewed, more stable international security architecture.

Under the new foreign policy Russia intends to give priority attention to four broad policy objectives.

The new foreign policy objectives include – promoting the processes of regional & interregional economic integration that serve Russia’s interests, first of all, within the Union State, EAEU, CIS, SCO, BRICS as well as with a view of shaping the Greater Eurasian Partnership.

Russia shall seek to raise awareness & protection against discrimination outside the country of the national developments in the sphere of culture, sciences & arts as well as strengthening the image of Russia as a state attractive for life, work, education & tourism.

One of the major foreign policy objectives is to – monitoring of unfriendly actions against Russian citizens & organizations, such as the use of restrictive measures (sanctions) of a political or economic nature, unfounded legal prosecution, the commission of crimes, discrimination, incitement to hatred.

The new Russian foreign policy objective focuses on making truthful information about Russia’s foreign & domestic policies, its history & achievements in various spheres of life, & other accurate information about Russia available to the widest possible foreign audience.
