New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday expressed strong confidence in the party’s victory in the upcoming 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, following an extensive strategy meeting with senior state leaders at Indira Bhawan, New Delhi.

The high-level meeting, which lasted nearly six hours, focused on election preparedness, organizational unity, and strengthening the Congress base in Kerala. Among those present were AICC General Secretary Deepa Dasmunsi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Shashi Tharoor, and senior Kerala Congress leaders.

Emerging from the meeting, Kharge told reporters, “100% we are going to win — take it from me.” His emphatic statement underscored the party’s optimism and renewed focus on reclaiming power in Kerala.

Kharge also brushed aside speculation of factionalism within the state unit, asserting that internal discussions with leaders such as former KPCC chief K. Sudhakaran had resolved any perceived differences. “He might have told you (about factionalism), but he said something else in our meeting that I do not want to disclose,” Kharge remarked with a smile.

Speaking after the meeting, K. Sudhakaran confirmed that the leaders engaged in constructive dialogue. “We discussed current politics, upcoming elections, and how to strengthen the party. We shared our opinions, and now the top leadership will take decisions accordingly. We are fully prepared to face the elections,” he said.

Echoing similar sentiments, AICC General Secretary Deepa Dasmunsi dismissed the notion of internal divisions, calling it a fabrication by political opponents. “There is no factionalism in the Congress Party in Kerala. It is manmade by the LDF people and the BJP. I can proudly say everyone is unitedly standing here for the Congress Party,” she said.
